I'll give you that

Grudging concession — you disagree overall but acknowledge one specific point is fair. Debate culture staple.

Literal translation trap

'Te lo daré' sounds like you're about to hand someone something. Spanish concession works differently.

Say it like this

Context

Admitting a rival team played well in defeat.

Eso sí, en eso tienes razón.

'That yes, in that you're right' — eso sí is the Spanish verbal move for a targeted concession.

Context

Agreeing with one point in an argument you're losing.

Ahí te doy la razón.

'There I give you reason' — dar la razón is the Spanish phrase for conceding a point.

Context

Acknowledging a flaw in your own argument.

En eso, de acuerdo.

On that, agreed — clipped, grudging, exactly the right tone.

Context

Admitting a competitor's product has one good feature.

Hay que reconocer que en eso sí aciertan.

You have to recognise that they get that right — reconocer (acknowledge) is the verb for grudging credit.

Context

Conceding a point to a sibling in a family argument.

Vale, en eso puede que tengas razón.

OK, on that you might be right — puede que softens it to a reluctant maybe.
